Final Submission

Matthew Starace Short Film Proposal

Concept: One must learn to overcome their fears, even if it doesn’t achieve your goals in the end.

Premise: What would happen if a ghostly warrior king tried to escape his own tomb, but was afraid of the dark.

Synopsis: An establishing shot of the crypt is shown. The warrior’s tomb displayed, and a hand pushed the top off. The warrior sits up, looks around, and climbs out. He looks at his hands, and he notices that that is beginning to fade away. He looks at the path ahead. It’s very dark and scary. He trembles a bit and grabs a nearby-lit torch. The warrior makes his way down the hallway and reaches a larger room. Shots of more tombs, a table, and bones are shown. He walks over to the table and sets aside the torch. He picks up the crown and stares into it. He puts it down and grabs the sword. More fading. Suddenly the character turns. Appearing from the wall are 5 shadow-like creatures. They move toward him, and with three quick slashes he finishes them off. While this happens, his torch falls and goes out. The warrior becomes very scared, and sits on the floor covering his eyes. Shadow creatures surround him. He opens his eyes and sees himself fading even more. He realizes what he must do. He grabs his sword and spins around, killing the shadows. He takes off toward the exit. Shadows are following. He sees the end in sight, but the crypt door begins to close. As he reaches the end, the door closes and shuts him in. The warrior looks down as the shadows catch up to him. He slowly fades away, and reappears as one of the shadow creatures.
